Frequently Asked Questions

  • It's completely normal to feel nervous. The first session is primarily a "getting to know you" conversation. We'll discuss what brought you to therapy, your history, and what you hope to achieve. It's also your opportunity to ask us questions and see if you feel we are a good fit. There's no pressure; our priority is your comfort and safety.

  • We use an integrative and evidence-based approach tailored to each individual. Our therapists are trained in several modalities, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and mindfulness-based practices. Our goal is to find the method that works best for you and your unique path to healing.

  • You do not need a formal diagnosis. "Trauma" can result from any event that felt deeply distressing or life-threatening. If you are struggling with memories, anxiety, or feelings you can't explain, and you suspect they're linked to past events, we can help you explore that in a safe, confidential space.

  • Being neurodiversity-affirming means we view conditions like ADHD and autism not as deficits to be "fixed," but as natural variations in the human brain. We work with your unique strengths to help you develop strategies for navigating a world that wasn't always designed for you, focusing on self-acceptance and practical skills.

  • The duration of therapy varies greatly from person to person. Some clients have specific, short-term goals they can achieve in a few weeks or months. Others with more complex trauma or long-standing issues may benefit from longer-term support. We will regularly check in with you about your progress and goals to ensure the length of therapy feels right for you.

  • Yes. For clients whose insurance we are not in-network with, we are considered an "out-of-network" provider. You would pay for your sessions directly, and we can provide you with a detailed receipt called a "superbill" that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. We recommend calling your insurance provider to ask about your "out-of-network mental health benefits."

  • Our self-pay rate for a standard 53-minute therapy session is $140. We can discuss our rates and any options for sliding scale availability during your free consultation.
